The Virginia Board of Pharmacy has established five zones that will each have five pharmaceutical processors operating so patients across Virginia have access to medical cannabis. According to Virginia NORML, four dispensaries are expected to open their doors this year with the first being Dharma, which will open in Bristol. The additional facilities, Green Leaf, Columbia Care and Beyond/Hello are preparing for operation but have not yet provided official opening dates.
Virginia dispensaries will sell cannabis oils, vape products, lozenges, capsules and more with single doses capped at 10 milligrams of THC. According to projections by the Marijuana Business Factbook, first-year sales are expected to reach $9 million in Virginia. Eric Mauff, founder and co-president of Joshi Holdings, stated that there is a good chance that sales of cannabis flower can become available in Virginia within the next year or two, providing more variety and options for medical marijuana patients.
